The stylistic diversity ranges from baroque, classical, romantic and new music to rock, pop and jazz. There are impressive solo works for piano, but also a multitude of pieces for chamber music ensembles. And as an accompanying instrument, the piano can replace an entire orchestra. The sound of the piano is produced by a special mechanism: When a key is struck, a felt-covered hammer is thrown onto the string.

This means that every player can immediately produce tones and sounds, which quickly awakens curiosity and a love of experimentation, especially in children.

Although the harpsichord has a similar shape to a grand piano, it belongs to the family of plucked instruments. The strings are plucked by a simple keyboard mechanism and its sound is more reminiscent of a harp or guitar. Alongside the organ, the harpsichord was the most popular keyboard instrument from the 16th to 18th centuries and is still highly valued today. Thanks to its lively sound quality, it plays a particularly important role in orchestras and chamber music ensembles.

Harpsichords are available in various sizes and designs: with one or two manuals as well as in space-saving versions such as spinets and virginales. The harpsichord is particularly suitable for beginners thanks to its smooth-running keys. Even beginners have many opportunities to play chamber music on the harpsichord.

The accordion is one of the classic keyboard instruments. The pitch of a note on the accordion is determined by the pressure on the key - the sound is produced by the movement of the bellows, which are located between the piano-like keyboard for the right hand and the button keyboard for the left hand. The accordion is still a young instrument - it only emerged in the 19th century, but then spread rapidly. Initially, it was mainly used in traditional music (folk music). In the course of the 20th century, the accordion developed into an important solo and chamber music instrument.

Selected works from the piano and organ literature, chansons, tango and Balkan music, Viennese songs and jazz standards, klezmer and concertante arrangements of folk melodies are integral parts of the modern accordion repertoire. From the beginning of the 20th century, more and more composers wrote works especially for accordion. There is now a wide range of contemporary works of all genres and levels of difficulty in various instrumentations from solo to integration in symphonic ensembles, but above all in chamber music.
