The Bonn Music School has a long tradition of supporting talented pupils. The Talent Academy department bundles a comprehensive range of activities aimed at children who show particular talent at the beginning of their musical education as well as young people who have achieved a very good level of performance and may aspire to a career as a musician.

Through the lessons in the NRW state program JeKits, the Ludwig van Beethoven Music School reaches a large number of children who might not otherwise attend the music school. Currently, 1600 pupils are being taught in the JeKits state program at elementary school throughout the city.

More and more children are attending open all-day facilities during their primary school years. The Ludwig van Beethoven Music School is responding to this with a specially developed teaching format that combines weekly small group lessons with weekly orchestra rehearsals - playing together from the very beginning.

Making music together is not only motivating, but also provides important didactic impulses for instrumental and vocal lessons. At the Ludwig van Beethoven Music School, almost every age group and ability level has the opportunity to make music together with others: in choirs, ensembles, chamber music formations and orchestras.

The jazz department at LvBM has been introducing talented students to jazz music for years, and with great success: in 2017, the jazz department at LvBM won the WDR Honorary Award for special promotion of young talent. Today, the department is opening up to other styles and is being developed into a specialist department for rock, pop, jazz & co.

Some of our lecturers are musicians who specialize in early music and pass on their knowledge to their students as music teachers. This is impressively demonstrated by the Baroque Drops ensemble, which has already qualified several times for the national "Jugend musiziert" competition.

The Ludwig van Beethoven Music School has expanded its digital infrastructure in recent years with funding from the City of Bonn's Department of Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. This has opened up new perspectives for music lessons: Numerous apps can simplify and accelerate the learning process.
